Cruise Control: Crouch’s hat trick highlights North Laurel’s 8-0 win over Bell County

WILLIAMSBURG — North Laurel wasted little time eliminating Bell County during semifinal action of Tuesday’s 13th Region Girls’ Soccer Tournament.

Lauren Crouch scored three goals in the win to lead North Laurel to an easy, 8-0, victory over the Lady Bobcats.

The win advances the Lady Jaguars (10-3) to Thursday’s title match against host Whitley County at 6 p.m.

“Tonight was a good win for us,” North Laurel coach Kayla Bargo said. “We’re excited to live to fight another day but at the same time we aren’t settling. We have more work to do. We’ve got to get focused in on Thursday and finishing what we set out to do this season, in bringing home a region title.”

North Laurel has played Whitley County twice this season. The Lady Jaguars recorded a 3-1 win on Aug. 27, and followed with a 5-1 victory during last week’s 49th District title game.

Against Bell County, North Laurel scored early and often.

Goals by Crouch, McKinley Mastin, and Annabelle Welch gave the Lady Jaguars a 3-0 advantage just 13 minutes into the match.

Crouch’s goal during the 24th minute pushed North Laurel’s lead to 4-0. Sarah Watkins added two goals during the final 15 minutes of the first half while Presley Thompson added a goal to give the Lady Jaguars a 7-0 cushion at halftime.

Crouch sealed the win with a goal during the opening minutes of the second half to give the Lady Jaguars an eight-goal victory.
