Clay finds a way, heading back to the 13th Region Tournament with 65-38 win over Jackson County

Guess who will be making a trip to the Corbin Arena next week?

Glenn Gray’s Clay County Tigers, that’s who.

After missing the 13th Region Tournament last season, Clay County assured itself it wouldn’t miss again by dominating Jackson County during its, 65-38 win.

The Tigers led 32-23 at halftime before turning in a stellar effort on both ends of the floor in the second half of their 49th District Tournament matchup with the Generals.

Clay County outscored their district counterpart, 33-15, in the second half while receiving a balanced scoring attack along the way.

Hayden Harris led the Tigers with 16 points while Aiden Wager followed with 13 points. Elijah Bundy scored 13 points while Grayson Hooker, and Landon Dezarn each scored eight points apiece.

Jude Lakes led the Generals with a game-high 17 points while Tydus Summers, and Keagan Ward each scored six points apiece.

Clay County will now face-off against North Laurel in Friday’s 49th District title game. The Tigers are 0-2 against the Jaguars this season but have hopes of ending North Laurel’s two year-reign as 49th District champions. The Jaguars have won four out of the last five 49th District titles.
