With that said, we still have a pretty darn good record this season, with a 104-22 mark, good enough for an 82.5 percent clip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So now it\u2019s on to this week\u2019s matchup between Corbin and Franklin County in the Class 4A StTe Semifinals at Campbell Field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These two teams met earlier this season with the Redhounds coming away with an impressive 40-20 victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the 20-point win, Corbin did most of its damage running the ball.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tom Greer\u2019s squad totaled 259 yards and five touchdowns on the ground. Cameron Combs led the way with 121 rushing yards and one score while Kade Elam ran for 87 yards and two touchdowns. He also passed for 168 yards while completing 14-of-20 pass attempts. Zander Curry and Zayne Hammack also had rushing touchdowns in the win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Carter Stewart led the way with three catches for 89 receiving yards while Brody Wells finished with four catches and 32 receiving yards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Defensively, Corbin limited the Flyers to 130 passing yards while intercepting four pass attempts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Franklin County did manage to rush for 214 yards but four turnovers did the Flyers in. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hammack led the way with 11 tackles while Jace Hatfield and Evan Baker each had eight tackles apiece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Curry led the way with two interceptions while Jacob Baker had one interception along with Wells. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Baker also had five PATS and a field goal in the win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The loss to Corbin was the first of three consecutive games for Franklin County, since then the Flyers have turned things around, going 7-1 with their only loss coming against Louisville Central (24-0).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The two teams have met twice with the Redhounds winning both games, in 2021 (27-7), and this season\u2019s 40-20 victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Corbin is 82-42 all-time in postseason play while Franklin County is 31-28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Who wins? Corbin should win this game, and the Redhounds should win it easily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But, Franklin County is much-improved since the last time these two teams met.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This makes us think back to 1996 when Corbin beat Madison Southern, 49-27, to finish regular season play at 10-0, only to lose to the same team two weeks later in the playoffs at Campbell Field, 28-28, in overtime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Now we just threw that out there saying, don\u2019t overlook anyone, and we don\u2019t believe Corbin will.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
