Corbin\u2019s Grace Gibson, who has already earned 13th Region Player of the Year honors a few weeks ago, was named All-First Team while teammate Olivia Jones was named All-Second Team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
South Laurel\u2019s Ella Rison earned Honorable Mention honors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gibson and Jones played key roles on the Lady Redhound squad this season that posted a 17-5-1 mark that won the 49th District, and 13th Region titles along with making a trip to the Elite Eight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gibson said a school record with 55 goals in a season while finishing with 19 assists, and 129 points. Jones set a school record for most assists in a season at 36 while also scoring 36 goals, and finishing with 108 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMaking the all-state team is an amazing accomplishment, and I\u2019m extremely proud of both of these ladies,\u201d Corbin coach Hannah Goins said. \u201cThey are obviously very talented individuals. They both had record breaking seasons, which is also a huge accomplishment. Not only are they skilled individuals but they demonstrated amazing teamwork and leadership abilities as well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGrace and Olivia, as well as my other seniors, Kaiden Walden, Riley Childers, and Kaitlyn Will, really bought into our \u201cTeam Over Me\u201d goal for the season,\u201d she added. \u201cAll five of these ladies were very strong leaders for our team this season and we owe a lot of our success to that. They are very selfless players that worked very well together and with the rest of the team. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOlivia has incredible field vision and was able to distribute the ball very well for us this year,\u201d she continued. \u201cAnd once we moved Grace up top, she was able to find the back of net nearly every game. They were definitely our driving force offensively this year, and were very hard to stop. A lot of teams would man mark them both and they were still able to find the back of the net.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe best thing about these two young ladies though is their selflessness,\u201d Goins added. \u201cThey understood it takes the entire team to be successful. They lifted each other up, and played extremely well as a team. I couldn\u2019t be more proud of every member of this team. We had a lot of players step up and contribute this year and I think their success as well our team success has a lot to do with how well we played together all over the field.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rison helped guide South Laurel to a runner-up finish in the 49th District, and 13th Region Tournaments along with an 11-8 record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She also scored 19 goals, finished with 10 assists, and totaled 48 points. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
