Williamsburg (4-2) at Pineville (7-0)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Yellow Jackets enter with a 23-game win streak against district opponents, and Pineville enters with a perfect 7-0 mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So something has got to give.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The key to Williamsburg\u2019s success is plain and simple \u2014 Sydney Bowen. He\u2019s dominated lately running the ball but another key factor is Hunter Thomas. He ran for 150 yards last week against Harlan. And, let\u2019s not forget about the Yellow Jacket defense. If Williamsburg is gonna beat Pineville, the Yellow Jackets will have to find a way to slow down the Mountain Lions\u2019 offensive attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pineville is averaging 46 points per game while allowing only 9.5 points defensively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Who wins? We are going out on a limb here, and thinking the Mountain Lions find a way, winning, 28-26, in a hard fought district game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pulaski County (6-1) at Bell County (6-1)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This should be a dandy of a matchup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bell County is going to get its points with the duo of Daniel Thomas and Dawson Woolum. And, we know Pulaski County will get its points as well, especially with quarterback Brysen Dugger playing about as good as any signal caller in the stats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Who wins? The Bobcats have an edge playing at home but look for Pulaski County\u2019s offensive attack to bee to much. Maroons wins, 42-28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lincoln County (1-6) at Corbin (7-0)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Redhounds are looking to grab another district win, and this matchup shouldn\u2019t take long for Corbin to accomplish the feat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Who wins? Redhounds roll, 49-0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Johnson Central (5-2) at Harlan County (3-4)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Black Bears have a prime opportunity to show just how good they are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s not going to be easy, though.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Johnson Central remains a tough team to beat, and will pose many challenges Friday when the two teams meet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Who wins? Harlan County has had a week off but the Eagles will pick up the win in the end. Johnson Central wins, 49-6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
South Laurel (0-7) at Southwestern (7-0)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This game is between two teams going in opposite directions. The Cardinals will attempt to shock the state by and keep their playoff hopes alive defeating the unbeaten Warriors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Who wins? Southwestern cruises, 56-7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wayne County (5-2) at Knox Central (4-3)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is another matchup that should be a good one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Both teams are hoping to keep their chances of hosting a home playoff game but to do so, winning this game is a must.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Who wins? Most folks believe the Cardinals have the edge but we\u2019re looking for Knox Central to pull off a 56-51 victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lynn Camp (2-5) at Harlan (5-2)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Green Dragons are coming off a heartbreaking loss to Williamsburg while the Wildcats are looking to get back on track and what better way than winning a district matchup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Who wins? Look for Harlan to keep its hopes of hosting a first round playoff game by defeating Lynn Camp, 49-7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Perry Central (5-2) at Clay County (4-3)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is another solid matchup between two teams that can flat out score on offense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Tigers are at home and need this win to make sure they can lock up the No. 3 seed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Who wins? We\u2019re giving the Commodores the edge, winning, 35-34. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Thursday, Oct. 13<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Week 9<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Whitley County (1-6) at North Laurel (4-3)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This should be a dandy of a game. Whoever wins this will more than likely be the No. 3 seed in the district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We will say this, when these two teams play against each other, you can throw the records out of the door. Both teams desperately need a win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
