WILLIAMSBURG \u2014 The Corbin Lady Redhounds are Class 2A, Section 7 champions after upending Whitley County, 1-0, in Thursday\u2019s title game.
The win, Corbin\u2019s third in a row, improved the Lady Redhounds to 4-2-1 on the season while the Lady Colonels fell to 4-2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m just super proud of my team tonight,\u201d Corbin coach Hannah Goins said. \u201cWhitley is always a tough physical game, it was a challenge, but we came in ready and fought hard for the win. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think we controlled the game very well,\u201d she added. \u201cWe\u2019re still struggling to find the back of net a little but we were able to put one away for the win. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The game was a tight match throughout on the pitcher with Jersey Roberson\u2019s goal during the 13th minute proving to be the game winner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe had a lot of opportunities, and played well together tonight,\u201d Goins said. \u201cWe\u2019re very excited to be able to advance to 2A state again. It was one of our goals we set during preseason and I\u2019m very proud of my team for accomplishing that. They put in a lot of work and effort and it definitely paid off tonight.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
