The South Laurel junior fired a two-hit shutout with 16 strikeouts as the Lady Cardinals rolled past Boyle County 10-0 in six innings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
South Laurel improved to 25-5 behind another dominant performance from Williams, who did not issue a walk and faced just 20 batters while throwing 74 strikes on 101 pitches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAll the way around, a great team effort tonight and a great win,\u201d South Laurel coach Carly Mink said. \u201cKenzie was fantastic in the circle tonight, attacking the zone and finished with 16 strikes outs. We had production all the way throughout the lineup and had a lot of quality at bats.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Lady Cardinals collected 10 hits offensively and steadily pulled away after scoring once in the first inning before adding two runs in both the third and fourth innings. South Laurel broke the game open with a four-run fifth inning and added another insurance run in the sixth inning to end it early.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Williams also helped her own cause at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with an RBI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lexi Messer added a big night as well, finishing 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI while Morgan Jackson scored twice and added a double.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
