CORBIN \u2014 Whitley County entered Monday\u2019s matchup against Corbin as the state\u2019s No. 1 ranked team according to the first release of the KHSAA\u2019s RPI ratings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Colonels (23-2 overall, 5-0 against district opponents) lived up to the hype by locking up the 50th District\u2019s top seed while handing Corbin a 10-2 loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ethan Allen turned in a stellar effort on the mound, throwing a complete game while limiting the Redhounds to four hits and two earned runs. He also struck out five batters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But that\u2019s not all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also went 3-for-5 at the plate with an RBI and two runs scored. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spencer Bargo came up huge at the plate with two hits, and a four RBI while Kip Allen had three hits, two stolen bases and two runs scored. Henry Bowling delivered three hits, two RBI, and one run scored while Cooper Parman had two hits, and RBI, and a run scored. Luke Hillard delivered a hit and an RBI while Caden Mountjoy finished with a hit and Dee Parker scored once.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGood win earning the regular season No. 1 seed,\u201d Whitley County coach Jeremy Shope said. \u201cHad a little bit of a rough start but liked the way our guys competed. EJ competed his tail off for us on the mound. Proud of Spencer Bargo. He is the anchor of our team. Always doing the little things for our team when no one is looking. Proud of the big at bats that he had. He makes you feel proud to be a Colonel. Go Colonels.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Redhounds (12-10, 2-3) took a 1-0 lead heading into the second inning before Whitley County began to heat up and score two runs in both the second and third innings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Colonels put the game away with two runs in the sixth inning, and four runs in the seventh inning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bret Estep led the way with two hits and an RBI while Kaiden Freeman and Clay Botner each had a hit apiece. Cam Estep drove in a run. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
