Bretz finished with three hits, including a home run, and drove in four runs as the Lady Cardinals built an early lead and held off a late rally by the Lady Rockets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHad to fight hard tonight,\u201d South Laurel coach Carly Mink said. \u201cIt was a really good win! Done a lot offensively early in the game, and couldn\u2019t get anything going late in the game to add on to the our lead. Lexi and Aubrie both threw really well tonight.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
South Laurel (20-4) wasted no time getting started, scoring two runs in the first before breaking things open with a four-run third inning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rockcastle County chipped away, scoring once in the third and adding two more in the fifth to make things interesting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Lady Rockets added another run in the seventh, but South Laurel had already done enough damage to hang on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Skye Lawson added two hits and scored twice while Bailey Frazier also crossed the plate twice as South Laurel totaled eight hits on the night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
