WILLIAMSBURG \u2014 It only took South Laurel three innings to move one step closer in finishing undefeated in 50th District play on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lady Cardinals (18-4 overall, 5-0 vs. district opponents) scored 16 runs in the first two innings, including 10 runs in the second inning during their 16-0 rout of Williamsburg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

South Laurel has outscored its opponents 34-0 the past two games, and has at least scored 16 runs in four of its last five contests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cVery important district game for us, and we did what we needed to do early,\u201d South Laurel coach Carly Mink said. \u201cWe continue to have quality at bats that end in something productive. Aubrie (Messer) gave us a great effort in the circle, and was able to work ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aubrie Messer got the win, allowing one hit in three innings of work and finishing with eight strikeouts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Skye Lawson led the way with two hits, a run scored and a team-best six RBI while Lexi Messer continued her red-hot play, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, and three runs scored. Sadie Lewis had a hit, two RBI, and two runs scored while Kenzie Williams had a hit, two RBI, and a run scored. Three Lady Cardinal players finished with at least a hit and an RBI apiece. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
