LOG MOUNTAIN \u2014 Bell County High School didn\u2019t waste any time naming former coach Brad Sizemore\u2019s replacement, turning to former South Laurel coach Jeff Davis to lead the Bobcats\u2019 boys\u2019 basketball program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Davis takes over a Bell County squad that was one win away from reaching the Sweet Sixteen this past season and is expected to be one of the frontrunners for next season\u2019s 13th Region crown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m incredibly honored to be named the next coach at Bell County,\u201d Davis said. \u201cI want to sincerely thank Mr. Crawford, Mr. Brock, and Mr. Slusher for this opportunity to lead such a special group of young men.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m excited to get started, building strong relationships with our team, as well as with the faculty, staff, and the entire community,\u201d he added. \u201cI\u2019m truly grateful for this opportunity and can\u2019t wait to get to work.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Davis spent 15 years at South Laurel, taking on the challenge of sustaining the tradition built by former coach Steve Wright, and delivering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His Cardinal teams were consistently in the mix for both 13th Region and 50th District titles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He guided South Laurel to a top-10 ranking in 2016 and captured the 13th Region championship, leading the Cardinals past top-ranked Christian County, the Colonels\u2019 first and only loss to a Kentucky team that season, in the opening round of the Sweet Sixteen. Davis\u2019 squad advanced to the Final Four before falling to Louisville Doss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Davis compiled a 305-158 career record, guided the Cardinals to seven 50th District championships, and was named KABC 13th Region Coach of the Year three times and 13th Region Media Coach of the Year four times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
