EMERSON, Ga. \u2014 Kip Allen delivered at the plate and Christian Wilson set the tone on the mound as Whitley County put together a complete performance in a 5-0 shutout win over Marysville on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Allen sparked the offense with a triple and 2 RBIs while Wilson controlled the game early, helping the No. 3 ranked Colonels improve to 7-1 on the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cReally good job on the mound today by both Christian and Eli against a good offensive team out of Columbus,\u201d Ohio,\u201d Whitley County coach Jeremy Shope said. \u201cDefense was superb. We turned two double plays that were big. This is the third game in a row that we faced a 90 mile per hour guy. It\u2019s been fun to compete against some really good pitchers and teams. It will only make us better. \u201cLooking forward to getting better this week playing at an unbelievable facility and against good teams,\u201d he added. \u201cWe also get to watch Auburn and Georgia Tech tomorrow and the Braves play on Wednesday. Great week for our program. Go Colonels.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whitley County got on the board in the second inning, scoring two runs before breaking things open in the fifth with three more runs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ty Petrey added two RBI of his own. Luke Hillard scored two runs and reached base multiple times, continuing to create opportunities at the top of the lineup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cooper Parman also contributed with a double.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the mound, Wilson was sharp from the start, allowing just two hits over 3.1 innings to earn the win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eli Powers followed with a strong relief outing, tossing 3.2 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while striking out three to secure the shutout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
