Behind a big day from Wilkelver Gaviria-Zuleta and a relentless offensive attack, South Laurel rolled to a 14-2 win on Saturday, scoring early and often to improve to 6-1 on the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cToday was a good day to be a Cardinal,\u201d South Laurel coach Trey Smith said. \u201cReally positive in all aspects for us. We hit, pitched, and played defense well all day long. Really good to see Jamison West throw well in two starts so far this season. Overall, very proud of my team and where we are at going into spring break.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Cardinals wasted no time setting the tone, scoring four runs in the first inning before adding three more in the second to take a commanding 7-1 lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From there, South Laurel never looked back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gaviria-Zuleta delivered the biggest blow of the afternoon, launching a home run as part of a 3-for-3 performance with 4 RBI, and two runs scored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He wasn\u2019t the only Cardinal that delivered at the plate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reece Noble turned in a standout performance of his own, going 2-for-2 with 3 runs scored and 4 RBI, including a triple that helped fuel another rally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
South Laurel\u2019s offense continued to apply pressure throughout the middle innings. The Cardinals pushed across two runs in the third and then broke things open with a five-run fourth inning, extending their lead to 14-2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The production came from up and down the lineup as Waylon Hensley added two hits and two runs scored. Carter Kelley finished with two hits and two runs. Bryson Turner drove in a run and scored twice while Jackson Catching crossed the plate twice as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
