\u201cGreat team win tonight,\u201d North Laurel coach Eddie Mahan said. \u201cThis was the definition of a complete team effort. We don\u2019t come out on top without contributions from every single kid who stepped on the floor. From the opening tip to the final horn, everyone embraced their role, trusted one another, and competed at a high level. Whether it showed up in the box score or not, every player made winning plays that mattered.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The win improved North Laurel to 20-6 as Haley Combs and Mariella Claybrook scored 19 points apiece. Laylee Phillips added 15 points while Bella Lewis scored 13 points, and Bella Mahan finished with three points. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat I loved most was the unselfishness and energy,\u201d Mahan said. \u201cThe girls communicated, shared the basketball, defended with purpose, and stayed locked in for four quarters. When we needed a stop, someone stepped up. When we needed a bucket, someone answered. That kind of balance and belief in each other is what makes this group special.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
