MIDDLESBORO \u2014 Whitley County improved its record to 13-12 with an impressive 52-36 win over Middlesboro on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maddy Hopkins led the way with 22 points while Jonna Rice added 19 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s always good to get a win on the road,\u201d Whitley County coach Ronnie Collier said. \u201cI thought we were pretty good defensively, at times, tonight. Aubree and Jonna did a good job on Roberts and Lambert. We got into a little foul trouble in the second quarter, so we had to go zone, and Middlesboro was able to make some threes to cut into our lead before the half. Maddy and Jonna had very good games offensively. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJaylee led us in rebounds with eight,\u201d he added. \u201cLydia played very solid defense and Cristen gave us valuable minutes off of the bench. We have a quick turnaround, playing a very good Bell County team tomorrow. Go Colonels.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
