South Laurel (8-3) came out sharp, building a 22\u201310 lead at the end of the first quarter and carrying a 33\u201322 advantage into halftime. Ryleigh Bretz controlled the paint early, while the Lady Cardinals\u2019 defense set the tone in the opening half.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Manual began to chip away after the break, trimming the deficit to 38\u201335 entering the fourth quarter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The momentum shifted in the final quarter, as Manual outscored South Laurel 20\u20135 to secure the win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bretz led South Laurel with 16 points while Callie Jones added 11 and Maci Messer finished with nine. McKenzie Fannin provided a spark off the bench with six points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
South Laurel coach Tod Windlan credited his team\u2019s early performance but pointed to defensive breakdowns after halftime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
