<\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"LIBERTY \u2014 Casey County built an early advantage and steadily pulled away for a 68-45 victory over Lynn Camp on Saturday, handing the Wildcats their third straight loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lynn Camp stayed within striking distance early, trailing 18-13 at the end of the first quarter, but Casey County began to separate in the second period. The Wildcats went into halftime facing a 37-23 deficit and were unable to slow the momentum after the break.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Casey County continued to control the game in the third quarter, extending its lead to 55-31 by the end of the period. The margin proved too much for Lynn Camp to overcome as the Wildcats struggled to find consistency offensively over the final eight minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOur kids continue to battle against tough teams and that\u2019s what we want,\u201d Lynn Camp coach Marcus McKeehan said. \u201cOverall, we got good looks all night, they just didn\u2019t fall. It\u2019s hard to win games in the 40s. Caleb Woods and Landen Rose had about four to five good looks from three that were down and in but popped back out. That was the first time we played back to back this season and it makes it tough when it was two solid teams with size and length.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe were shorthanded again being down a starter in Eisen Mayo but he\u2019ll be back next game,\u201d he added. \u201cCaleb Woods is dealing with some injuries but he is as tough as a kid you\u2019ll find anywhere and gutted it out for his team. I can\u2019t say enough about Woods and his senior leadership. DJ Wren got his first career varsity start and continues to give us physicality on the defensive end and with his rebounding ability. Wren is brand new to basketball from the gridiron but has given us good minutes all year. Landen Rose, Conner Mabe and Kayden Powers battled and we had to play kids off the bench in Cason Mills and Shawn Reyes but they came in like always and competed. We\u2019re going to try and get rested up and healthy get ready for another tough test Monday against Harlan.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Landen Rose led Lynn Camp with 16 points, while Elijah Mayo added 13 points. Conner Amaze finished with six points in the loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
