{"id":35820,"date":"2025-12-06T18:55:21","date_gmt":"2025-12-06T23:55:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.13thregionmedianetwork.com\/?p=35820"},"modified":"2025-12-06T18:55:21","modified_gmt":"2025-12-06T23:55:21","slug":"slow-start-strong-finish-lady-jaguars-roll-to-65-44-victory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.13thregionmedianetwork.com\/?p=35820","title":{"rendered":"Slow Start, Strong Finish: Lady Jaguars Roll to 65\u201344 Victory"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">LONDON \u2014 North Laurel shook off a slow start before settling into rhythm and pulling away for a 65\u201344 win over Hazard on Saturday.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">The Lady Jaguars struggled early energy-wise but responded with dominant second and third quarters to take control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe didn\u2019t come out with the energy or basketball IQ we expect from ourselves early on,\u201d North Laurel coach Eddie Mahan said. \u201cThe standards of our program were not met. The first quarter just wasn\u2019t us. We finally settled in during the second and third quarters and started playing with more purpose. I was proud of the way we responded once we got going.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">North Laurel (2-1) led 13\u201310 after one quarter and stretched the advantage to 34\u201323 by halftime. By the time the fourth quarter came around, the Lady Jaguars were firmly in control with a 52\u201333 lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">Mariella Claybrook paced the Lady Jaguars with 14 points, while Paisley Robinson and Bella Lewis each added 12 points. Kaylee Phillips contributed eight points as the Lady Jaguars continued to display their depth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">Depth, in fact, played a major role in the win, according to Mahan.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI thought we got some really solid minutes from our bench tonight,\u201d he said. \u201cWe had another eighth grader step up, Paisley Robinson, gave us a great boost and continues to show she belongs at this level. Our depth is a blessing, but it\u2019s also something we\u2019re going to have to learn how to manage as coaches. We\u2019ve got multiple kids who can be the difference maker on any given night, and figuring out the right combinations is going to be a big part of our growth. And credit to Hazard, they always play hard and compete. They make you earn everything, and they definitely did that tonight.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"988\"
