The Wildcats (1-1) received an 18-point scoring effort from Conner Mabe while Eli Mayo added 13 points, and Landen Rose followed with an 11-point scoring effort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe challenged our kids after Monday\u2019s game to focus on rebounding and eliminating turnovers,\u201d McKeehan said. \u201cThe way they responded is exactly what any coach would want. We were in foul trouble all night but they never lost their composure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThey played team basketball and it paid off,\u201d he added. \u201cWhen Red Bird would make a run, our kids responded and played under control. Hats off to Coach Napier & his Cardinals. They never backed down and played until the final buzzer.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lynn Camp led 17-10 at the end of the first quarter and 31-23 at halftime before pulling away in the second half, outscoring Red Bird, 30-22, in the second half.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Xavier Roark led the Cardinals with 15 points while Ashton Lewis finished with 12 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe had to go deep on our bench tonight,\u201d McKeehan said. \u201cDJ Wren, Shawn Reyes, and Cason Mills were major players even though stats don\u2019t show it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
