Corbin (6-0) trailed 28-14 in the first half before scoring 17 unanswered points to reclaim a 31-28 advantage. But a touchdown by the Pioneers with 4:50 left set up Kade Elam\u2019s heroics, as his 44-yard pass to Eli Pietrowski led to his game\/winning one-yard touchdown run, as the Redhounds proved victorious with a 38-35 win.
Corbin\u2019s defense came ready to play to begin the game, forcing three turnovers during the game\u2019s first eight minutes.
Jacob Baker recorded two interceptions while Kade Elam\u2019s interception led to Zayne Hammack\u2019s two-yard rushing score at the 4:36 mark of the first quarter, giving the Redhounds a 7-0 lead.
Simon Kenton\u2019s offense began to hit stride before the end of the first quarter. The Pioneers scored and tied the game at seven apiece with 23 seconds to go.
Simon Kenton stunned Corbin\u2019s defense with a 30-yard touchdown pass at the 7:55 mark to take a 14-7 lead.
But the Redhounds came right back and scored on the ensuing kickoff as Zander Curry raced 85 yards for the score to tie the contest at 14-all with 7:42 remaining in the first half.
The Pioneers\u2019 offense continued to click on their ensuing possession, driving down the field and scoring on an 11-yard touchdown run to reclaim a 21-14 lead with 5:05 to go in the first half.
After holding Corbin\u2019s offense from scoring, Simon Kenton added to its lead and built a 28-14 cushion with 1:27 remaining in the first half.
The Redhounds managed to regain some momentum right before halftime as Brody Wells\u2019 four-yard score, cut their deficit to 28-21 at halftime.
Corbin opened the second half with a scoring drive that saw Tom Greer\u2019s squad tied the game at 28 apiece thanks to Elam\u2019s nine-yard touchdown pass Curry.
Baker\u2019s 32-yard field with 2:23 left in the third quarter allowed the Redhounds to reclaim a 31-28 advantage.
Corbin looked to build on its lead after stopping Simon Kenton on fourth down on its ensuing possession but the Redhounds turned the ball over, and the Pioneers made them pay.
Simon Kenton scored on a seven-yard touchdown run with 4:50 remaining, taking a 35-31 advantage during the process.
The Redhound offense answered the call as Elam\u2019s 44-yard pass to Pietrowski put Corbin inside the Pioneers\u2019 15-yard line.
Elam scored from one-yard a few plays later to give the Redhounds a 38-35 edge with 1:55 left in regulation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
