{"id":34181,"date":"2025-09-06T16:07:06","date_gmt":"2025-09-06T20:07:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.13thregionmedianetwork.com\/?p=34181"},"modified":"2025-09-06T16:07:06","modified_gmt":"2025-09-06T20:07:06","slug":"whitley-county-advances-to-2a-boys-soccer-final-four","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.13thregionmedianetwork.com\/?p=34181","title":{"rendered":"Whitley County advances to 2A Boys\u2019 Soccer Final Four"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"p1\">MOREHEAD \u2014 The Whitley County Colonels punched their ticket to the Kentucky 2A Boys\u2019 Soccer State Final Four with a 3-2 win over Johnson Central on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\">The victory improved the Colonels\u2019 record to 6-3 as they now prepare to travel to Owensboro on Saturday to face the winner of Rowan County and Bourbon County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\">Head coach Michael Branham said his team wasted no time setting the tone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cWe started off the game strong and pressured them well,\u201d he said. \u201cBryson Mahan found Rizzo Cima on a through ball 14 minutes into the game. With three minutes left in the half Brody Moses assisted Rizzo for his second goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cIn the second half, we gave up a goal on a defensive error which let Johnson Central gain some momentum. Rizzo Cima scored a PK with 21 minutes left in the game to give us the 3-1 lead. Another Johnson Central goal with 15 minutes left put a lot of pressure on us, but I am very proud of how we managed to close out the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cOur keeper Clyde Johnson had a great day and made some phenomenal saves to close out the game,\u201d Branham added. \u201cIt was a team effort and I couldn\u2019t be more proud of the way we battled on a chilly, rainy day to move on to the final four of the 2A state tournament.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\"
