South Laurel outgained the Briar Jumpers in total offense, 333-246.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Somerset took a 3-0 lead in the first quarter thanks to a 32-yard field goal by Julian Carroll. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Cardinals took their first lead of the game with 2:12 remaining in the first quarter as Griffin hit Carter Kelley for a 13-yard touchdown strike, giving their team a 7-3 edge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Griffin hooked up with Garrison Brown for South Laurel\u2019s second score with 20 seconds left in the first quarter, extending their lead to 13-3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kris Hughes\u2019 eight yard touchdown run, cut the Cardinals\u2019 lead to 13-9 at the 4:54 mark of the second quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
South Laurel answered with 28 seconds remaining in the first half as Griffin broke loose for a two-yard score, increasing the Cardinals\u2019 lead to 20-9 at halftime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Griffin and Brown connected for the second time in the game for a score (17 yards), pushing South Laurel\u2019s advantage to 27-9 with 8:30 left in the third quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Somerset never quit, though.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Briar Jumpers added touchdown runs of four and six yards to cut their deficit to 27-22 with 8:37 remaining in regulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
