<\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"LONDON \u2014 The South Laurel girls\u2019 golf team continued to impress Tuesday evening as Alyssa Siler shot a 75 that was good enough for a fourth-place tie at the Madison Central Invitational.
The Lady Cardinals shot a 296 as a team while golfers Lilly Barton (96), Morgan Jackson (104), Lindsey House (124), Audrey Likins (121), and Grier Allen (134) each turned in stellar efforts.
\u201cAlyssa was coming off a third-place finish last week at the Wayne County Invitational with a score of 81,\u201d South Laurel coach Rusty Siler said. \u201cShe shot a 75 today, started out slow with three bogeys on the first five holes, but pulled it together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Her and Lilly Barton are the only two returning varsity players,\u201d he added. \u201cLilly shot a 96. She had some great approach shots and kept a positive attitude. She is a very hard worker and will continue to work hard to improve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMorgan Jackson is returning to golf she played in sixth and seventh grade,\u201d Siler added. \u201cShe\u2019s a three-sport athlete and is getting better every day shooting a 104 today. Assistant coach Branden Grubb said Morgan is going to be a huge help come region time, she is smart and athletic.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Siler also is impressed with the play of Audrey Likins, Lindsey House, and Grier Allen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAudrey Likins is also a newcomer. This is her second 18-hole tournament,\u201d he said. \u201cShe is catching on very quick, and she\u2019s standout softball player. Come September, she will be an asset for the region tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLindsey House is in her third year, and she has worked in the office season to get better,\u201d Siler added. \u201cShe has improved tremendously and I\u2019m excited for see how she helps this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
