CORBIN \u2014 Cody Philpot\u2019s team weathered the storm during regular season play, and seems to be playing its best baseball entering Friday\u2019s KHSAA State Baseball Tournament matchup with Pleasure Ridge Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Redhounds are winners of three straight and possess a 10-17 record, but enter their first round game against the Panthers as underdogs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That doesn\u2019t seem to bother Philpot much. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ll take my guys every day against anyone,\u201d he said. \u201cThey\u2019re going to compete and give their best shot no matter the opponent. And they\u2019ve embraced the under dog role and wanting to prove people wrong and will continue to do the same this week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSingle elimination baseball is one of the wildest things in sports, you never know what can happen,\u201d he added. \u201cWe have liked proving people wrong and have fed off of feeling disrespected in a sense. I think it has helped sharpen the focus and preparation over the last few weeks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAny time you see a smaller school make a run in the state tournament, they\u2019ve almost always been there before,\u201d Philpot continued. \u201cWe\u2019ve got a lot of guys that were a big part of an amazingly competitive game last year and expect to go make some noise  instead of just being happy to be there.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
