1. Corbin (5-0 overall)
The Redhounds had a much-deserved week off after starting the season 5-0.
Tom Greer\u2019s squad has established itself as one of the top teams in Class 4A thanks to an improving offensive attack along with one of the best defenses in Class 4A.
Who\u2019s next? Corbin will hit the road and make a long trek to Simon Kenton, who has dropped two straight and is 2-2 on the season. Keep an eye on this game, it could be closer than what people think.
2. Bell County (4-1)
The Bobcats do what good teams do \u2014 find a way to win.
Bell County\u2019s duo of Daniel Thomas and Dawson Woolum continue to be up stoppable on offense while the Bobcat defense is bending but not breaking.
Who\u2019s next? Bell County will travel north on I-75, and face-off against a Rockcastle County (3-3) squad that is pretty darn good under new coach Chris Larkey.
3. North Laurel (4-1)
The Jaguars continue to churn out impressive defensive efforts while the offense scored 43 points during North Laurel\u2019s win over South Laurel.
Who\u2019s next? This is a huge game for the Jaguars. They are at home and will be hosting district foe Southwestern (5-0). If North Laurel wants to win the district, this game is a must win.
4. Pineville (5-0)
The Mountain Lions enjoyed a nice week off as they remain perfect with a 5-0 mark. Coach Allen Harris has Cooke in and done a fantastic job during his first year as head coach of the Mountain Lions.
Who\u2019s next? Pineville will be hosting winless Jackson County (0-6) which should be another win for the Mountain Lions.
5. Clay County (4-1)
How about those Tigers? They\u2019re coming off a huge win over Harlan County, and will now have a big test this upcoming week. Clay County possesses one of the best offenses in the region, and continues to impress on the defensive side of the ball, too.
Who\u2019s next? The Tigers will host Johnson Central (3-2) Friday in a huge district matchup.
6. Williamsburg (3-1)
The Yellow Jackets might have lost Friday but they earned a lot of respect by hanging tough on the road against Somerset.
Who\u2019s next? Williamsburg has a tough road matchup with Sayre (3-2) Friday. Can the Yellow Jackets get a big win on the road?
7. Middlesboro (4-2)
The Yellow Jackets are winners of four straight after blowing past Morgan County last Friday. Middlesboro has scored at least 40 points in three of its past four games.
Who\u2019s next? The Yellow Jackets will hit the road and square-off against district foe Breathitt County (3-2). The Bobcats started the season with a 3-0 mark but have lost two straight.
8. Harlan County (3-3)
The Black Bears looked like they were gaining momentum but suffered a big district setback at home to Clay County. They need a win this week to get things back on track.
Who\u2019s next? Harlan County has big district road matchup against rival Letcher Central. When these teams meet up, anything can happen.
9. Knox Central (3-2)
The Panthers are losers of two straight but had this past week off and it was much-needed. Knox Central needed this time off to get healthy.
And folks, don\u2019t take the ranking to heart. Once the Panthers get healthy, look for their winning ways to continue and start moving up in the rankings.
Who\u2019s next? The Panthers will look to get back on track against struggling Bourbon County (1-4).
10. Harlan (4-1)
What a huge win for the Green Dragons this past week. We thought Harlan would have their hands full with Sayre. Boy, we\u2019re we wrong.
