They\u2019re the first senior class that can lay claim to winning three region titles during their four-year varsity at Corbin. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI can\u2019t say enough about this group,\u201d Corbin coach Cody Philpot said. \u201cThat says a lot about their talent, but doesn\u2019t scratch the surface of how good of people they are and the character that they show on and off the field. They have been instrumental in keeping the team together and keeping the faith because they knew what it took to win because they\u2019d seen and been apart of it. It was easy for our young guys to trust them and trust the process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s always a huge help to have a bunch of guys that have been through it all before,\u201d he added. \u201cPostseason games are different, you have to be ready to play but have to be able to stay relaxed at the same time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Philpot said they\u2019re many things this year\u2019s senior players has brought to the table, helping Corbin capture its second consecutive 13th Region crown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis is a special group. Their roles vary on the field but each of them have been really good at being the best version of themself. \u201cAnd with that, has been a willingness to be whatever the team needs at a given time,\u201d he added. \u201cWhether that be delivering a big hit or pitch or being a comedian to lighten the mood or a shoulder to lean on for a teammate that needs it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
All of the seniors have contributed throughout the season, helping with the Redhounds\u2019 success, but none were more evident than Lucas Tarvin\u2019s gem on the mound in the 13th Region title game combined with Kade Elam\u2019s leadoff homer in the first inning that helped lead to Corbin\u2019s win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLucas\u2019 performance was one that you always hope for,\u201d Philpot said. \u201cHe\u2019s a kid that has always been the ultimate teammate, and an unquestioned leader of this group even though his role has not always been the biggest. He\u2019s been kind of a utility guy for us over the years and been willing to move wherever needed. When we needed someone to go out and give the best performance of his career, he was ready. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
