The Lady Cardinals (14-4 overall, 3-0 vs. 50th District competition) scored three runs in the first inning, adding nine more runs in the second inning before putting the finishing touches on its 16-1 win over Williamsburg with four more runs in the third inning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve got a great group of girls that continue to work hard each and everyday,\u201d Mink said. \u201cWe\u2019re going to keep working and getting better. It\u2019s important in any game to get a lead early. We were able to do that tonight and get a district win.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Audrey Likins turned in a solid performance in the circle, limiting the Lady Yellow Jackets (2-15, 0-5) to only one hit, and one run. She struck out one batter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPitching and defense can carry you a long way in this game,\u201d Mink said. \u201cWe worked extremely hard in those areas. Proud of Audrey Likins tonight; she continues to give us great games in the circle.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Offensively, South Laurel tallied 11 hits with Morgan Jackson leading the way. She turned in a perfect 3-for-3 effort with two RBI, and two runs scored. Skye Lawson was 2-for-2 with five RBI, and two runs scored while Bailey Frazier was 2-for-2 with two runs scored. Kenlee Ertel turned in a two-hit effort (both hits were triples) while driving in three runs, and scoring once. Kenzie Williams had a hit, two RBI, and two runs scored while Sadie Lewis finished with a hit, and scored once. Addison Baker scored twice while Likins scored once.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
