Jerry Herron\u2019s Williamsburg Yellow Jackets hung tough with Somerset but in the end, suffered their first loss of the season by dropping a 38-28 decision to the Briar Jumpers. 
Williamsburg didn\u2019t show any rustiness after being off for two weeks as Sydney Bowen\u2019s 52-yard touchdown run gave the Yellow Jackets a 6-0 lead at the 5:35 mark of the first quarter.
Somerset\u2019s first points came via a defensive play as Kam Hughes sacked Bowen in the end zone, and recorded a safety to make the score, 6-2, with 1:48 remaining in the opening period. 
The Briar Jumpers scores a minute later thanks to a 15-yard touchdown run by Lee Felix, giving Somerset its first lead of the game at 9-6.
Williamsburg reclaimed the lead with 8:32 remaining in the first half as Bowen connected with Nate Goodwin for a 13-yard touchdown pass. The Yellow Jackets added the two-point conversion, building a 14-9 advantage.
Somerset scored with nine seconds remaining in the first half thanks to a two-yard touchdown run by Guy Bailey to take a 16-14 lead into the locker room at halftime. 
Another rushing touchdown in the third quarter with 9:21 remaining allowed the Briar Jumpers some breathing room at 23-14 but Williamsburg counties to battle.
Bowden\u2019s 63-yard touchdown pass to Goodin, cut the Yellow Jackets\u2019 deficit to 23-20 at the 9:02 mark of the third quarter. 
Somerset answered right back, but this time around pushing it\u2019s lead to 11 points.
The Briar Jumpers slowly moved the ball downfield and found the end zone thanks to Bailey\u2019s two-yard touchdown run. Somerset added the two-point conversion to give itself a 31-20 cushion with 3:28 left in the third quarter. 
A 24-yard touchdown pass right before the end of the third quarter allowed the Briar Jumpers to bull some distance while taking a 38-20 advantage entering the fourth quarter. 
Bowen threw another touchdown pass with 4:33 left in regulation to make the score, 38-28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
