After a week of highs and lows, the Jackson County Generals Baseball Team has found themselves back in the band after a Monday Night showdown in Clay County.
Last week, the Generals took to Whitley County for a heavily anticipated matchup that would ultimately end in a lights-out defeat of 10-0 with Jackson County coming home bare-handed. In maintained spirits, the designated pitcher of the night, Elijah Thomas, was asked how the night’s performance would affect up-and-coming games and lead into the rest of the Generals’ already well-paved season. This is what he had to say, \u201cThis game tonight didn\u2019t matter that much, we know what kind of team we are. We know who we can be and we know who we will be by the end of the season. All we are focused on now is locking in and beating Clay County on Monday.\u201d With April 14th\u2019s away game in mind, Elijah was also asked what the team planned to work on in preparation for their battle at Clay. During his interview, he replied, \u201cOnce we get down by a few runs, we can\u2019t just lie down. We\u2019ve got to keep going, we\u2019ve got to keep encouraging each other, the dugout has to be loud; we\u2019ve just got to keep playing our game.\u201d \u2013and that is exactly what the Generals did.
Heading into Monday night, tensions were high as this game not only would weigh on the team’s regional rankings but was also a district seed match. After an unsure start, the Generals kept their lids and outshined the Clay County Tigers. This 15-6 victory brings the Varsity Baseball Team one step closer to their best season to date\u2013 raising their win\/loss record to 13-4.
This prevalent accomplishment will set a path for the Generals to keep their heads up, with a stretch of eight home games in a row and the fire of Monday night’s game lit, the Baseball Team is looking to extend their record and let their presence be known.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
