The Cardinals withstood some cold temperatures while handing Bell County a 9-4 loss during the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
South Laurel\u2019s bottom of the order found a way to get on base while the top of the order drove them in. The Cardinals\u2019 own through three hitters were a combined 6-for-8 with four RBI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Vince Sizemore led South Laurel\u2019s with a 3-for-4 effort, which included two doubles, and two RBI. Waylon Hensley turned in a 2-for-3 effort with an RBI and a run scored while Will Alsip finished with a hit, an RBI, and a run scored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI feel like the bottom got on today and our top of the order came through and drove them in,\u201d Smith said. \u201cI was really proud of my boys for coming and playing well.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hensley also turned in another stellar effort on the mound, tossing a complete game allowing four hits and four earned runs while striking out six batters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWaylon done a great job on the mound today,\u201d Smith said. \u201cHe picked up where he left off during the break, and pitched a really good game. Bell has a very solid team. I was proud of my boys on the way they came out and got the win.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
South Laurel\u2019s led 4-0 entering the fourth inning before the Bobcats scored three runs to cut their deficit to 4-3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Cardinals answered with two runs in the bottom of the fourth while adding three more insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Keaton Creech also added a hit and two RBI for South Laurel\u2019s while Jameson Durham scored twice. Bryson Turner and Reece Noble both finished with a hit and a run scored apiece. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
