The Colonels received impressing pitching efforts by the trio of Christian Wilson, Trey Walton, and Chris Cureton. They limited the Maroons to only four hits while combining to strikeout six batters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wilson got the win, lasting four innings, allowing four hits, and one earned run while striking out four batters. Walton tossed a scoreless inning while striking out two batters, and Cureton also secured a scoreless inning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGood to get three different pitchers on the mound tonight,\u201d Whitley County coach Jeremy Shope said. \u201cChristian was better tonight after the first. He filled up the strike zone. He\u2019s got some upside and will get better with each start. Trey came in and pitched well. Chris had some tough luck with some errors behind him. We can\u2019t let that happen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cProud of Spencer Bargo. He\u2019s a big reason why our pitchers are confident on the mound,\u201d he added. \u201cHe receives the ball well and is a great defensive catcher. He\u2019s been working his tail off offensively and it\u2019s showing. He\u2019s had some good at bats the first couple of games. He and Ty Petrey are providing some offense toward the bottom of the order. Good to see Henry Bowling have a couple of hits tonight. Can\u2019t wait to see us at the plate as we get more comfortable with at bats.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first inning, Whitley County answered with three runs in each of the second, fourth and sixth innings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
