Doubles<\/p>\n\n\n\n
LONDON \u2014 North Laurel\u2019s boys\u2019 and girls\u2019 tennis teams started the season off with a split against Somerset Christian on Tuesday.
The Jaguars won all three doubles matches to preserve a 6-3 victory.
\u201cThe boys got a big win to start the season against a string, deep Somerset Christian team,\u201d North Laurel coach Bob Smith said. \u201cI was proud of our effort and our tough play at crunch time on several courts. Jackson and Carson in singles along with Jackson\/Finn and Carson\/Austin in doubles got us courts that really could have gone either way, and that propelled us on to the team win. Austin came back for a win in singles and Joe Clay\/Ethan handled matters on their dubs court.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Lady Jaguars weren\u2019t as fortunate, dropping a 6-3 decision after winning two singles matches and one doubles match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTheir girls were a little too strong for us at the top of the lineup while we were able to win some courts at the bottom of the lineup,\u201d Smith said. \u201cAlyssa got us a couple courts in singles and doubles with Taylor while Brooke also notched a win in singles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis season will be a learning experience for both teams as we lost our top five girls from last year and four of our top five boys,\u201d he added. \u201cSo there’s a lot of kids playing in the regular lineup for the first time, and that can take some time adjusting to that new scenario. As the season progresses, we’ll hope to improve and still be a main factor come tournament time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
