On the same day she was named KABC 13th Region Player of the Year, North Laurel Senior Brooke Nichelson tossed in a game-high 27 points with all of those coming in three quarters of action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTonight, we finally played to our potential on both ends of the court,\u201d North Laurel coach Eddie Mahan said. \u201cIt was a huge confidence boost heading into the postseason. Our defense was solid, thanks to improved positioning and communication. On offense, the ball moved freely, creating some great scoring opportunities. Our seniors led the charge, but every player was aggressive and looking for their shot. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI have a lot of respect for Harlan County,\u201d he added \u201cThey’re a young, talented team with a coach who’s willing to challenge them with tough opponents, which reminds me of my early teams at North Laurel.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
North Laurel put the game away in the first quarter as Nichelson scored 14 points while Bella Sizemore added five points, giving the Lady Jaguars a 27-0 lead entering the second quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mahan\u2019s squad led 48-13 at halftime, and never looked back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
