PINEVILLE \u2014 The Whitley County Colonels were hoping to keep their positive momentum going after defeating Corbin earlier in the week, but they ran into a very good Pineville squad who pulled off an 86-75 win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTough night for us,\u201d Whitley County coach Eric Swords said. \u201cWe got in to an up and down game and allowed penetration and too many offensive rebounds to win on the road. Pineville has a good team and a bunch of seniors, give them credit they made big plays down the stretch. We got to get back at it and continue improving.\u201d
Led by Sawyer Thompson\u2019s 26 points, the Mountain Lions (17-7) had four players score in double figures. Jeremiah Beck added 20 points while Ashton Moser scored 19 points, and Kaiden Robbins finished with 10 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur kids were really dialed in and focused from the tip tonight,\u201d Pineville coach Brad Levy said. \u201cI was really pleased with our defensive intensity. We were able to force some turnovers and contested shots that allowed us to get out in transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis was a good win for us over a really good team and comes at the right time as we\u2019re gearing up for the postseason,\u201d he added. \u201cThis was a total team effort tonight but I thought Sebastian Kyle and Jack Smith both came off the bench and gave us some critical minutes on both ends of the floor. I\u2019m proud of both of them for staying ready and producing when their time came.\u201d
Henry Bowling led Whitley County (16-8) with 21 points while Bryson Mahan followed with 16 points. Garrett Sharp finished with 12 points while Riley Fuson added 11 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
