SOMERSET \u2014 The Corbin Redhounds showed a few signs of rustiness after a six-day layoff but still managed to pick up a 61-49 win on the road.
Led by Ryder Akins\u2019 19-point scoring effort, Corbin improved to 12-5. Connor Middleton added 16 points while Eli Pietrowski finished with 14 points.
\u201c(We) looked rusty early on in the game,\u201d Corbin coach Tony Pietrowski said. \u201cI wasn\u2019t happy with our attention to detail, and thought we got outworked for the most part.
\u201cThe second half was much more representative of the team we want to be,\u201d he added. \u201cOur offense was crisp, defensive effort was better and we rebounded it.
\u201cRyder looked much more fluid in the second half. He scored well and ran our team,\u201d he continued. \u201cEli set the tone as well. He had some big finishes for us and worked the boards. Dawson (Farmer) and Middleton continue to be glue guys for us. Making plays that help us win. Proud of our team for a solid road win. It\u2019s important we put our full focus on Williamsburg with the quick turnaround.\u201d
Corbin will host Williamsburg Tuesday with hopes of remaining unbeaten in 50th District.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
