HAZARD \u2014 Pineville\u2019s first trip to the WYMT Mountain Classic was a successful one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mountain Lions came close in defeating Breathitt County on Tuesday before really of their first-ever win in the tournament on Wednesday by defeating Prestonsburg, 79-72.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Led by Ashton Moser\u2019s 35-point, six-rebound effort, Pineville improved to 2-1. Sawyer Thompson added 29 points, 14 rebounds, and seven steals in the win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTonight we got the first win in the WYMT Mountain Classic in program history,\u201d Pineville coach Brad Levy said. \u201cWe were incredibly honored to be chosen to compete in this tournament and we\u2019re proud of our guys for being the first group in school history to get that done. We\u2019re going to get back to work and build on this experience going into the holidays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe had a quick turnaround and came out flat in the first half tonight and dug ourselves a hole we had to climb out of,\u201d he added. \u201cWe started defending and executing much better toward the end of the third quarter and got in a rhythm.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
