HARLAN \u2014 The two-time defending 13th Region champion Whitley County Lady Colonels put an end to North Laurel\u2019s season by defeating the Lady Jaguars during first round action of the 13th Region Volleyball Tournament. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whitley County won the first set, 25-8, before rolling to a 25-15 win in the second set and a 25-18 victory in the third set. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI liked our focus coming into this match and we had a three good days of preparation,\u201d Whitley County coach David Halcomb said. \u201cNorth Laurel had been playing really well and we knew that coming in. We got off to a great start and maintained our level of play up until the third set when we kind of hit a wall. We got a little scattered and wasn\u2019t playing fundamentally sound volleyball. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI was pleased with how we got it back together being down 16-10, but finished with a 15-2 run to finish the set,\u201d he added. \u201cOur girls are excited to advance to the semifinals on Monday. We have to work on some things between now then, but please with this effort today.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
