MCKEE \u2014 Jackson County enters today\u2019s home game against Jellico, Tenn., playing some of its best football of the season, having won three of their last four games. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Generals are looking to build on their 5-3 record, but they will have to do so without junior Ashton Clemons, who suffered a season-ending injury last week against Morgan County, breaking his ankle and fibula.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clemons’ productivity will be sorely missed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was a key player on offense, completing 5-of-6 pass attempts for 69 yards and a touchdown, rushing for 664 yards and a team-best 10 touchdowns, and also catching a pass for 22 yards and another touchdown. His 11 touchdowns and three two-point conversions lead Jackson County, contributing to a total of 72 points. His 12 tackles rank third on defense, all while having played only two years of organized football prior to this season (in seventh grade and his sophomore year).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAshton is one of the most energetic kids I have ever coached,\u201d said Jackson County coach Nicholas Sizemore. \u201cHe\u2019s always determined and prepared. He excels in every sport he plays and can switch gears quicker than most. We knew we had something special last year when he was a sophomore, and he has certainly lived up to the hype this season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI hate to see kids like him suffer season-ending injuries, but I truly hope to see him back on the field next year,\u201d he added. \u201cHe\u2019s a team player who always wants to win, and that is exactly what every coach wants. He\u2019s the complete package for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
