BOWLING GREEN \u2014 North Laurel High School golfer Brady Hensley turned in an impressive showing during Day One of final round action in Tuesday\u2019s KHSAA State Golf Championships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hensley is currently in third place with a 71, trailing only Charlie Spiller (Lexington Catholic), and Tucker Jones (Madison Central), who are currently tied for first place by shooting identical 70s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBrady has prepped like a pro the past week to be ready for the state tourney,\u201d North Laurel coach Chris Stone said. \u201cIn our practice round, he was focused on each hole. He took notes and planned how he wanted to play each hole. But Bowling Green Country Club is tough no matter how prepared you are. The field is full of great talent. You can play great and be in middle of the field so for Brady to be one stroke off the lead is great. shooting one under on this course is nothing but great. Brady played with confidence and took what the course gave him. You can\u2019t manhandle this course. You have to know where to be aggressive and when to back off. Really special play today. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBrady is in a great spot to start the final day tomorrow,\u201d he added. \u201cWe just want to stick to the game plan and hopefully repeat today\u2019s success. I watched some special golf today on the toughest course we been on all season.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hensley shot a four on the first hole and a five on the second hole before following with fours on the third, fourth, and fifth holes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He finished with a five on the fifth hole before catching fire and shooting a three, four, and four during the seventh, eighth, and nine holes to finish with a 37 on the front nine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hensley opened the back nine with a five before shooting a two on the 11th hole. He shot a four on the 12th hole before heating up and shooting threes on holes 13, 14, and 15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He finished with a five on hole 16, and a four on hole 17 before shooting a five to finish the day. Hensley shot a 34 on the back nine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
