Whitley County got back on track Monday in volleyball action after posting an 0-1 mark in the Rocky Top Classic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lady Colonels handed Knox Central a three-set loss while improving to 8-3 overall, and 6-1 against 13th Region foes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The loss dropped the Lady Panthers 5-3 overall, and 5-3 against 13th Region opponents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whitley County cruised to a 25-10 victory in the first set before winning the second set, 25-17. The Lady Colonels had to hold off a late rally by Knox Central in the third set before winning, 25-10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis was a good win for us tonight,\u201d Halcomb said. \u201cIt was the most enthusiasm and energy we\u2019ve had in a while, which was pleasing to see especially coming off a long weekend of volleyball in Sevierville. I thought we came out the first set and played really solid. We off to a slow start in the second set, but got it together and pulled it out. Our serving and communication was really good tonight too. We had the opportunity to get some kids in who haven\u2019t been playing a lot of Varsity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn my opinion, we have yet to play our best volleyball and we are still a work in progress,\u201d he added. \u201cIt\u2019s my job to get us to that point and by the end of the season. I\u2019m confident we will get there.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whitley County will be back in action Tuesday on the road against South Laurel before traveling to play Christian Academy-Louisville on Friday dueing first round action of the Kentucky 2A State Volleyball Tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Panthers will also be back in action Tuesday with a road match against Harlan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
