SOMERSET \u2014 South Laurel got back on the winning track Thursday with a 3-1 win over Somerset, improving to 7-15 during the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lady Cardinals overcame a slow start and put things together eventually to grab a big win on the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe had a rocky start with some miscommunications and errors in the first set, but came out with a new energy in the second set,\u201d South Laurel coach Shelly Nunley said. \u201cOur back row really stepped up to recover a lot of balls, helping out our setters and hitters so that we could play a more aggressive game. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSomerset is always a really active, scrappy team, so we came in knowing that they wouldn’t let a lot get by them,\u201d she added. \u201cI was really happy about how we continued volleys until we could eventually win out on difficult points with some smart attacks. All in all, we worked hard and earned a hard-fought win that we are really proud of.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
