LONDON \u2014 South Laurel\u2019s dug an early hole it couldn\u2019t get out of on Thursday, falling to Lincoln County, 3-2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Patriots built a 3-1 lead in the first half before seeing South Laurel\u2019s comeback attempt fall short. Liam Zik scored both goals for Brooks Cawood\u2019s squad. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt was a strange night in that we had another first half like we did against Wayne County,\u201d Cawood said. \u201cWe gave up three goals in the first half and started the second half at a 3-1 deficit. Liam Zik scored both goals and we just came up short.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have a hard time when it comes to playing tougher teams,\u201d he added. \u201cWe again came out flat and you just cannot do that against good teams like Lincoln County. Caleb Whicker played an excellent match again, even saving a penalty kick. We have Estill County on Saturday and our first district match against North Laurel on Tuesday.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
