{"id":25915,"date":"2024-08-30T20:45:37","date_gmt":"2024-08-31T00:45:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.13thregionmedianetwork.com\/?p=25915"},"modified":"2024-08-30T21:26:28","modified_gmt":"2024-08-31T01:26:28","slug":"goodin-finds-paydirt-three-times-to-lead-williamsburg-past-bourbon-county","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.13thregionmedianetwork.com\/?p=25915","title":{"rendered":"Goodin finds paydirt three times to lead Williamsburg past Bourbon County&nbsp;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>LONDON \u2014 After six lead changes in the first half, defensive adjustments were made by Williamsburg as the Yellow Jackets secured a 38-20 win during their season-opener.<br>Williamsburg led 24-20 at halftime before scoring two touchdowns in the second half to pull out the win.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCoach Hatcher made some great adjustments on defense at halftime,\u201d Williamsburg coach Jerry Herron said. \u201cI\u2019m so proud of our kids and they\u2019ve overcome so much and so proud of them. We were really fortunate to get the running game going for us, and our defense made stops when we needed them.\u201d<br>Quarterback Nate Goodin ran for more than 200 yards in the win while finding pay dirt three times. Peyton Tye and Eli Meadors also recorded rushing touchdowns in the win.&nbsp;<br>There were a lot of offensive fireworks in the first half with the lead changing hands six times.<br>Bourbon County got on the scoreboard first, taking a 6-0 lead with a six-yard touchdown run at the 3:29 mark of the first quarter.<br>Williamsburg answered quickly with Goodin breaking loose for a 16-yard touchdown run while Tye added the two-point conversion to give the Yellow Jackets an 8-6 edge entering the second quarter.<br>A 25-yard touchdown pass with 8:16 left in the second quarter allowed the Colonels to regain the lead at 12-8 before an 11-yard touchdown run, and a two-point conversion run by Eli Meadors gave Williamsburg a 16-12 advantage with 4:34 remaining in the second quarter.<br>Bourbon County answered with a one-yard touchdown run while adding the two-point conversion, allowing the Colonels to claim a 2016 edge with 58 seconds left.<br>Goodin added his second touchdown run right before half, an 80-yarder, while Meadors added the two-point conversion, giving the Yellow Jackets a 24-20 lead at halftime.&nbsp;<br>After a scoreless third quarter, Williamsburg out the game away with two touchdowns in the game\u2019s final 12 minutes.<br>Goodin broke free for his third rushing touchdown of the game, a 63-yarder, while Tye broke loose for a 57-yard touchdown run with two minutes remaining to make the score, 38-20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex
