LONDON \u2014 Many prognosticators didn\u2019t know what to expect out of two-time defending 13th Region champion Whitley County this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite being hit hard by graduation, the Lady Colonels don\u2019t look like they\u2019ve missed a beat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They ran their record to a perfect 3-0 after upending North Laurel Monday with a 25-17, 21-15, 25-11, and 25-12 win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The loss dropped North Laurel to 0-2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

25-17, 21-25, 25-11, 25-12 victory. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think this was a statement win for our team,\u201d Whitley County coach David Halcomb said. \u201cTo come on the road and perform like we did against a top team in the 13th Region in North Laurel is outstanding. I\u2019m very proud of our girls. They were ready from the first serve and stayed focused throughout. We had to tweak our defense some after dropping the second set, but our girls did what we asked of them.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey were having fun and responded well to a little pressure,\u201d he added. \u201cWe have all the elements to be really special and we are heading in the right direction. We still have areas to improve upon, but I\u2019m confident that we will. This is a fun team to watch.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
