<\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"For the past ten years, Scott Prewitt has cheered on the many Lynn Camp teams from the sidelines and bleachers. This coming school year, he will have a different view and a different role in the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Coach Scott Prewitt will be taking on the role of Head Coach for the Lady Cats basketball team this upcoming school year. After a decade-long hiatus from coaching, Coach Prewitt is eager to bring his passion and expertise back to the court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI have watched these girls grow up together for nearly ten years,\u201d said Prewitt. \u201cThis year my own daughter, Cambree, will be a senior on the team. I\u2019m excited to be able to coach them and work with them in this capacity. I\u2019ll no longer just be on the outside looking in.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prewitt recalled many times that he has missed the relationships and the chance to help these young women develop not only their basketball skills but also their character and teamwork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI want my players, future players, and potential players to know that I will work really hard for them,\u201d said Prewitt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI will be tough, set high expectations, but I will also be their biggest supporter and advocate. I want them to be great basketball players, but more importantly, great students and leave Lynn Camp being impeccable graduates with bright futures contributing back to the community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prewitt wants to look at the past as well. He hopes to involve some former players in activities this year. He wants to see alumni fill the stands, where he once sat, to support girls basketball and all the programs at Lynn Camp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt is so important to remember where we came from in order to truly know where we are going. The girl\u2019s basketball program has had success over the past 20 years, and I look forward to the years ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prewitt himself recalled his time on the basketball court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI have played ever since I can remember. I remember my dad helping coach elementary basketball at the old Gray School in the mid-1980s, so I think it has always been in my blood.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Taking after his dad, Prewitt has a rich history of coaching athletics at Lynn Camp. From middle school boys basketball and high school assistant in 2005, to assistant cross country in 2008, to head cross country and tennis coach in 2010, to head girls bowling coach in 2012. Prewitt served each team for numerous years during each of those transitions and now sees many of his former athletes serving the community, having pride in themselves and where they graduated from, Lynn Camp Schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI am confident that we can really grow this year, win games, and turn heads,\u201d said Prewitt. \u201cI think the goal has always been to winning the \u2018All A\u2019, district, and being competitive at the Arena in March. That process starts now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cheering on Prewitt and the team will be his family. His wife Taralyn, his oldest daughter Cambree and youngest daughter Lorelai. Both children are already involved in Lynn Camp athletics. Cambree, senior, will be joining her dad in basketball, softball, and runs cross country. Lorelai will be a freshman, playing softball, shooting archery, and bass fishing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
