The Redhounds (30-10) are winners of nine straight and are one of many teams that look to be built to make a deep run beginning Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe state tournament brings together the best of the best, there\u2019s no question,\u201d Corbin coach Cody Philpot said. \u201cBut we know we belong in that conversation and are going into this with the intent of winning it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have to continue to play our brand of baseball,\u201d he added. \u201cWe\u2019ve been throwing strikes, making the routine plays and keeping pressure on people offensively. If we can continue to do that then we have a chance against anyone.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Redhounds open the state tournament against Owensboro Catholic. A win over the Aces would setup a matchup with either Estill County or Hopkinsville. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe winner of our game would see the winner of Estill County, who we\u2019ve played this year, and Hopkinsville,\u201d Philpot said. \u201cBoth are good ball clubs with a lot of tradition. After that there are several perennial powers like McCracken and West Jessamine who would likely be waiting.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So what are Corbin\u2019s keys to success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
