\u201cAnother good game for our girls,\u201d North Laurel coach Chris Edwards said. \u201cDefense and pitching were the stars of the show tonight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTessa threw another great game,\u201d he added. \u201cOne hitter with eight strikeouts, and no defensive errors. That\u2019s a very good combination. And obviously I\u2019ll take that every night.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
North Laurel (19-7) played a flawless game in the field and delivered 12 hits at the plate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOffense was a little sluggish tonight, especially with runners on,\u201d Edwards said. \u201cWe had girls on but couldn\u2019t get the big hit when we needed it early. We did finish with 12 hits and seven of the nine girls had hits. Saige McClure, Bella Sizemore and Emma Carl with multiple hits \u2014 six of the 12 hits were extra base hits. Finally, we were able to string some together and have a big inning and put some distance between us. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA lot of credit for our struggles tonight was because of Wayne County,\u201d he added. \u201cThey have improved so much from when we played earlier in the year. We are on the road the next two days. Big test tomorrow at Montgomery County. Go Jags.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Lady Jaguars held a 2-0 advantage heading into the fifth inning while exploding four five runs to put the game out of reach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Saige McClure turned in a perfect 4-for-4 effort at the plate, delivering a triple and two doubles while driving in a run and scoring twice. Emma Carl had two hits, an RBI and two runs scored while Bella Sizemore finished with two hits, an RBI and a run scored. Morgan Edwards connected with a two-run double while Katie Keen delivered a hit, drove in a run and scored once. Ellie Adams finished with a hit and an RBI while Aubrey McCowan had a hit and scored once.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
