CORBIN \u2014 After four years as head coach of the Corbin High School varsity football program, Tom Greer has decided to retire while stepping down as head coach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Greer took over the helm at the Redhound coach in 2020, and turned in an impressive 46-5 mark overall, including a 10-4 record in the playoffs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Greer\u2019s best season as Corbin came in 2022 when he guided Corbin to a 14-1 record and the 2022 Class 4A state championship game where the Redhounds lost to Boyle County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAlthough I have held a variety of athletic coaching positions and have loved them all, being given the honor of coaching the Redhound football team holds a special place in my heart,\u201d Greer said via social media. \u201cComing back to Corbin to coach was like coming home to where I learned to be a Redhound and what it means. But after 33 years of coaching and 34 years in education, I have prayed and reached a peacefulness about stepping down as the head coach and retiring. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNone of this would\u2019ve been worthwhile without the Corbin community being who they are, the best fans who love students and all that the Redhound symbol stands for,\u201d he added. \u201cCorbin school district who has gone above and beyond to support me and the Football program\u2014 they believe in all students and I\u2019m proud to work there. The coaching staff, football program, and players are a part of my family and a part of who I am. All three groups are completely committed and passionate about this program, and I know will continue to be. I truly don\u2019t know what the next chapter holds for me, I\u2019m sure God will reveal that in his time. I know this, Susan and I will continue to support and love the Redhounds and the Corbin community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Corbin currently holds a 36-game regular season win streak with its only regular season loss under Greer coming against Beechwood on Sept. 11,2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Redhounds captured four district titles under Greer along with a region title in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Corbin was 8-2 overall in 2020, 12-1 in 2021, 14-1 in 2022, and 12-1 in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
