LONDON \u2014 North Laurel wasted little time in taking control of Monday\u2019s crosstown battle with South Laurel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lady Jaguars (15-7) sent 13 batters to the plate in the first inning while scoring eight runs en route to their 12-2 win over the Lady Cardinals (19-6).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

North Laurel got some revenge from an earlier 9-6 loss to South Laurel while improving to 10-1 during its past 11 games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emma Carl notched the win for the Lady Jaguars, pitching five innings while surrendering only one hit while giving up two earned runs. Carl finished with five strikeouts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cReally good game by my girls tonight,\u201d North Laurel coach Chris Edwards said. \u201cHits up and down the lineup. We also had some good situation and two-strike hitting tonight. Multiple hits from Katie Sams, Braylee Fawbush, Ellie Adams, Emma Carl and Bella Finley. We really had a good night at the plate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs I always say, pitching and defense will take you a long way in this game. Tonight, Emma threw a one-hitter and only gave up two runs. Those two runners were the only two walks she had tonight. A great night for Emma and the defense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe entire regular season for everyone is to just get ready for the postseason,\u201d he added. \u201cWe know what we will face if we see South again in the postseason. Tonight we played well and executed in all phases and executed our game plan and came out on top. It was also a nice bounce back after our last game. Go Jags.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

North Laurel outhit the Lady Cardinals, 15-1, as Ellie Adams turned in a perfect day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two RBI, and three runs scored. Carl turned in a 3-for-4 effort while driving in two runs and scoring once. Morgan Edwards drove in a team-best three runs while collecting a hit. Bella Finley and Katie Sams finished with two hits and two runs scored apiece while Braylee Fawbush collected two hits. Saige McClure finished with a hit and an RBI while Katie Keen delivered a hit and an RBI while scoring once. Bella Sizemore scored one run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Audrey Likins took the loss for the Lady Cardinals, allowing 15 hits, and nine earned runs while striking out a batter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Skye Lawson had South Laurel\u2019s lone hit, and finished with two RBI. Ryleigh Bretz scored in the loss. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
