\u201cToday was an old fashioned pitcher\u2019s duel,\u201d North Laurel coach Chris Edwards said. \u201cPennington from Breathitt and Emma for us were both on their game today. Emma went all seven innings, only allowed four hits and struck out seven. We also made all the plays behind her today. I\u2019ve said this since we started here, pitching and defense will take you a long way in this game. Today is a prime example of that. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOffensively, we struggled but that was because of Pennington,\u201d he added. \u201cShe is one of the best pitchers around and that\u2019s why we wanted to face her. We are going to see a bunch of good pitching if we want to have the season we want to have so games like this are good for us. We scheduled this game late in the week after we had a team cancel on us so Many thanks to Coach Taulbee for agreeing to come down and play. Good game and a good week for us. Keen delivered a a home run while going 2-for-2, and finishing with two RBI, and a run scored while Braylee Fawbush and Bella Sizemore finished with a hit apiece. Sizemore also scored once.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
